Day One Hundred and Twenty-Seven
Perks of my awesome job: helping a client during feeding time of her one day old piglets. For you non-farm raised folk, the babies must be kept separately from the mama for best survival rates. The sow will often roll on to the feeding infants, squashing them to death or injuring them severely. When the babes are injured, mama sow will try to eat them. We carried the 10 surviving piglets from their heated pen to mama for feeding and then back to their pen. Adorable little things!
