Since I celebrated the fourth early at the field I spent today unpacking my insane amount of luggage into our new closet. It may be time to condense to two bags!

The long and short of it is, our new roommates rock! Not kidding when I say we haven't seen guys this awesome since college. We went to check out the place before signing up, obviously. And it was immaculately clean! I couldn't fathom that boys had maintained this place so nicely for three months. I really could not! But I loved it because I have a theory about this traveling baseball lifestyle. It's not my job to pick up after anyone, ever, and it's especially not my job because I'm "the girl." There's no reason to deal with messy folks at this point in our lives, right?! Kyle and I had been dead set on living alone once arriving here. Shockingly, this huge home and these new guys are a pleasant surprise like none other. They all were senior signs like Kyle so we really have found ourselves back in with our usual crowd. Plus these guys love board games like us! Tonight they raced home after the game to squeeze in a few games of Clue.

Bacon and blueberry pancakes for breakfast. Check.

New place toured and signed for. Check

(Gated community, pool and fitness center? Check!)

First at bat as a Met. Check.

Double date celebratory dinner after the Sand Gnats win! Check.

Day Two Hundred and Thirty Six

We made it to Savannah, Georgia at about 3:00 pm today. 

The very first cool thing about Savannah, there's not only moss hanging from the trees, but a beautiful abundance of palms. I had no idea these things could coincide. It's a true beauty that's much different than our typical pines and firs in the Pacific Northwest.

As promised by the Angels, Kyle's hear arrived at the Sand Gnats club house before we did. Not to worry though, he was outfitted with brand new blue and orange Mets gear. Holler if you're in need of Angels 'ish, we seem to own an obscene amount for Mets. Hehe.

Grayson Historical Field is just as the name says, historical. It's large, the bleachers are older with out numbered seating, the aisles are big and the seating options are bountiful. It also comes with things we didn't have before like a sky bar, a huge screen in the outfield and tons of die hard fans. (It's so awesome it almost re-sold me on the name Grayson for one of my hopeful future sons. Alas, Kyle again reminded me how unfortunate the initials GJ would be).

Coincidentally tonight was Military appreciation night at the field. We're now only several hours from my active duty brother who is currently at Fort Bragg. I had to buy Kyle's jersey, even though he didn't play tonight. Not only did he pick MY number, 5, but the jersey is camouflage in honor of my brother. Plus it's his very first jersey as a Met! Perfection. Kyle will need to complete a physical with the Mets staff before he can play, this is standard procedure after a trade. AS of now, they've slated Kyle for the right field and designated hitter positions.

Kyle's brother and grandmother are in town visiting for a few days. I drove up to Davenport for Kyle's series here before our all star break vacation. Plus Davenport is a little more civilized than Burlington and I can go shopping and hunt for wedding stuff while I'm here. But today was an especially long day, with a double header starting at 6 pm Both games went into extra innings, meaning a total of 18 innings of baseball...ending at 11:45 pm. Welcome to my life!
